Working in purchasing at Michelin

In the Purchasing Department, our job consists in creating value for the Michelin Group while at the same time reducing the risks associated with procurement and market fluctuations. We handle purchases of raw materials, services, plant and industrial supplies, including strategy, negotiation and contracts.

After 8.5 years in Purchasing with another company, I had the opportunity to join Michelin and utilize my MBA to move forward with my career.
After beginning in the Marketing Purchasing area, I added Tax and Training and then moved into the Benefits area as Category Manager, working with a very forward thinking Benefits group.
After several years I was provided the opportunity to join the Raw Materials global reinforcement team.  Securing Metallic and Textile reinforcements products for North America in a team environment is allowing me to continue to expand my knowledge in the Raw Materials area and to share my Purchasing experience as I work closely with my European, Asian and South American counterparts. The Best part of my adventure is the fact that, even though there are parameters under which I must work, to a large extent, I am really given the latitude to do what I need to do to accomplish the goal.

My career path with Michelin :

  • Senior buyer
Responsible for sourcing and buying operations within a particular perimeter. Contributes to the definition of the sourcing strategy with the Category Manager
  • Category Manager
Responsible for defining sourcing strategy and leading and coordinating the worldwide network.
