As an Engineering Manager at Michelin, you will lead and develop the engineering team to include directing, planning and completing engineering projects to launch new products or enhance plant production systems. You will manage the staff and assign tasks to engineering and technical personnel.

What You Will Do:

  • Establish priorities and effectively manage the team’s time to complete duties/projects within required time.
  • Lead the Engineering Department of the plant.  A team of approximately 7 people.
  • Demonstrate leadership in the Engineering Department by implementing programs in training, safety, communications, performance recognition and internal employee development in order to ensure peak employee efficiency.
  • Interpret and apply department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations; ensure compliance with these areas.
  • Mentor and support the continuous development of team members.
  • Audits facility to determine if there are deficiencies in resources to provide mechanical and engineering support to meeting and exceeding production schedules.
  • Ensures city, county, state, and federal laws relating to the engineering aspects of our facility is always met.
  • Facilitate and mange a variety of projects including larger CAPEX projects.  
  • Implement and promote engineering standard methodologies.
  • Maintain documentation and report on all KPI (Key Performance Indicators) for the Engineering Department.
  • Assists with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions.
  • Manage the completion of all applicable mechanical designs related to changes in existing projects and new projects.
  • Assures that Engineering programs are completed as defined by budgetary and corporate standards.
  • Serve as a lead in all technical requirements to ensure that the technical operations are aligned with improving production effectiveness and optimizing performance to lower overall operating costs.
  • Collaborate with Zone Engineering Team to effectively communicate the needs and reality of the plant.  
  • Collaborate with QA and Production Teams to ensure that engineering methods used will achieve the company’s safety, standards of quality, and performance.
  • Integrate Continuous Improvement into all aspects of the engineering function as evidenced by demonstrating continuous improvement, teamwork with co-workers, distinguished customer service and striving for excellence.
  • Stay in sync with Company Policies and Procedures

What You Will Bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering.  A Mater’s Degree is a plus.
  • An applied knowledge of manufacturing procedures and capacities, products and production processes is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years in Engineering domain in an industrial manufacturing setting.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years demonstrated successful leadership of an Engineering Department within a manufacturing setting. 
  • A proficiency in AutoCAD /SolidWorks, Microsoft Excel, Project, Power Point and Word is required.
  • A demonstrated knowledge of mechanics, electrical, automation, civil and piping.
  • A knowledge of petro/chemical processes is favorable.
  • A background in Lean Manufacturing is favorable.
  • Effective communication skills with peers, management, employees, customers and vendors.  A history of working collaboratively and proactively with others. 
  • The ability to lead a team with their well-being (work/life balance) in mind.
