The Sustainability Officer for the Region will serve as a leader who has a passion for sustainability and a strong commitment to help realize our vision of All Sustainable development through environmental & social/societal actions that deliver a better future to both society and the planet.
The role will lead collaboratively with multiple functions across the business and beyond operations and play a strategic role in creating the regional plan to deliver the Regional 2030 sustainability goals and beyond. In this role, he/she will work closely with strategy, innovation, progress, government relations, manufacturing, and all business units to align, advance, and execute our All-Sustainable vision and strategy in the E2A region.
He/she will also be the face and voice of Michelin’s sustainability mission to employees, customers, partners, suppliers, consumers, regulatory agencies, and external bodies among others. Key stakeholders will include internal and external constituents, key among being them the region’s strategic and operational leadership and the corporate worldwide sustainability team. He/she will elevate and advocate for it, acting as a primary contact notably responding to sustainability questions from our customers.
He/she will be able to collaborate and adapt in an evolving, multinational, multicultural context, leveraging experience and judgment to plan and to mobilize matrixed resources. He/she will report to the Chief Administration Officer of region and functionally to the Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) in the Corporate Sustainable Development and Impact Department (DCDI). His/her activities will cover sustainability activities within and beyond our operations, comprising Michelin impact to the environment.
MISSION
The role of the Regional Sustainability Officer is both strategic and tactical, notably to:
Lead and support the process to design the 2030 Michelin All sustainable goals in the region based on the 2030 Group 3P scorecard, be part of Michelin shifts and region-specific sustainability issues.
Contribute through various frameworks to steer and report progress and results on initiatives and levers for achieving 2030 All sustainable goals to the regional steering committee (ED) and central DCDI.
Build a Sustainability Roadmap at the regional level
Represent the Group and the region to external and internal stakeholders and elevate Michelin’s profile as a recognized leader on sustainability topics.
Act as a key account manager for topics related to our External Engagement strategy, beyond our operations (such as sustainable mobility)
Promote and foster the development/anchoring of competencies on All Sustainable
Act as center of expertise to coordinate and support sustainability actions within the Region: leading point of contact for customers on CSR, employee engagement through awareness programs, manage ad hoc projects in sustainability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
Bring clarity in the region with respect to sustainability vision, ambitions, accomplishments, activities and progress, working together with internal functions to disseminate that message
Animate the definition of the entity strategic plan and steer/report progress on actions to warranty the outcomes achievements
In charge at the regional level of declination effectiveness through the local network and functions (P, EP…), through an adequate governance system, such as a CSR regional committee. In some cases, he/she could be involved in building and executing this declination (ex. Human rights, D&I).
Build and maintain links across the complex system of internal stakeholders and actors (DCDI, DO/DC/LB, Region), bringing awareness of relevant regional developments and their evolution
Lead region annual strategic / yearly planning activity on sustainability topics
Lead beyond operations activities, related to Michelin impact.
Represent Michelin externally through speaking opportunities, etc. and committee participation
Tactics
Act as a point of contact and local center of expertise, notably to answer to CSR requests from customers and to drive awareness programs in the region.
Coordinate and help manage all CSR/ESG reporting and engagement as relevant at the regional level, supporting corporate needs as well as customer requests.
Represent Michelin in customer-facing functions, before government officials and forums, policy associations, and industry events.
Embed sustainability understanding throughout the organization as executive sponsor of employee engagement program, through new employee training and other channels as appropriate.
Coordinate with local Communications and Marketing teams to plan, develop and maintain internal and external communication materials that drive awareness of goals and progress.
Support dossiers related to our External Engagement Policy’s deployment in E2A
Undertake special projects as deemed necessary by local leadership.
Coordinate data’s gathering for group reporting
Support for CSR actions integration of new entities at the regional level if appropriate
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
At least 10 years of professional experience and education in areas such as Sustainability, Business Administration or Government Affairs. Bachelor’s Degree required, or MBA
