Tech Scholars and Maintenance Early Scholars

Michelin offers different initiatives with a shared commitment to prepare talented young people for industrial professions in the workforce of the future.

MICHELIN TECHNICAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM

The Technical Scholars Program selects students to develop hands-on work experience while earning their degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) or Electronics Engineering Technology (EET). Michelin Technical Scholars receive scholarships to cover the cost of tuition, fees and books for the program along with competitive pay and part-time work in a Michelin manufacturing facility.

  • Earn on-the-job training and valuable experience at one of the world's leading companies.

  • Develop invaluable skills such as time management, teamwork and problem solving.

  • Customize work schedule to accommodate classes.

  • Upon graduation, become eligible for entry-level employment at Michelin as a Reliability Technician, with competitive salary currently around $66,000 and opportunity for salary increases with experience.

 

MICHELIN TECHNICAL SCHOLARS MUST:

  • Be enrolled as a full-time student in a Mechatronics or EET program at a technical college.

  • Have and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.

  • Be able to work at least 20 hours per week at Michelin during the program.

  • Demonstrate strong math, science, reading and comprehension skills.

  • Pass the pre-employment test.

  • Exhibit the potential for a career as a Reliability Technician with satisfactory test scores in math, comprehension and aptitude in mechanical automation.

  • Demonstrate motivation and drive to become a member of the Michelin team during the interview process.

MICHELIN MAINTENANCE EARLY SCHOLARS

A pathway to the Michelin Tech Scholar program, the Michelin Maintenance Early Scholars program offers opportunities for select high school students in South Carolina, to acquire job-related education in advanced manufacturing while gaining hands-on experience at a Michelin facility through a paid apprenticeship.

 PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Earn a minimum of 2,000 hours of on-the-job learning in a manufacturing environment.

  • Rotate through various work processes (industrial safety, hand and power tool operations, hydraulics and pneumatics, AC-DC circuits and electrical test equipment, etc.)

  • Work with a sponsor from the local County School District.

  • Applicants must be 16 years of age or older with interest in mechatronics/electronics.

  • Students must contact their work base learning coordinator at an approved CTE in Greenville, SC county.
