KEY EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

The UPTIS is an innovative project that was started at Michelin’s MARC site in 2018. The UPTIS process has been a work-in-progress, meaning that there was no template to use to build our process. The team has also been constantly making improvements to the process. Because of this, there has been very little documentation created for the UPTIS Shop. As the UPTIS project moves closer to a market project that documentation needs to be created.

Another area of focus will be on the production of UPTIS units. This will be more hands-on. It will involve making intentional product flaws and then testing if those flaws will affect the product quality.

Both of these tasks will assist in building the understanding of product quality for UPTIS.

Guidelines
Michelin uses the Microsoft suite of tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc).

Student will be spending time on the shop floor working with operations, quality technician, and product design & industrialization engineer. You will need to follow all safety procedures while working in the shop. All required PPE will be provided to you (safety shoes / glasses / etc.).

Any improvements that you feel will benefit from making a digital interface can be done with the assistance of the UPTIS Digital Co-op.

Procedures that you will be working with are:
• NC Procedures - Non-conforming product / materials
• IPC – C3P Checks
• MOC – Work methods
• VQM – Verification / Quality of Measure

Work closely with the shop Quality Technician to develop, test, and document FTC’s (Green Tire Specifications).

Prefer Mechanical Engineer/ Electrical Engineer major; technical writing a plus.
