DAP Storage Engineer

Key Responsibilities 

Storage Monitoring & Health 

  • Perform regular monitoring of SAN - NAS and VSAN storage arrays using tools like ActiveIQ, VROPS ARIA OPERATION, OCUM, and BlueXP. 

  • Identify and report anomalies or incidents to Kyndryl and ensure timely resolution. 

Capacity & Cost Management 

  • Conduct bi-weekly capacity checks with Kyndryl’s Capacity Management team. 

  • Analyze storage growth, “days to full” metrics, and backup statuses. 

  • Validate RU (Resource Usage) reports and ORION/HENKA values to ensure accurate billing and cost control. 

Project & Optimization Initiatives 

  • Lead and support optimization projects initiated by Architects or Delivery Managers. 

  • Collaborate with Kyndryl(Provider) and internal teams to execute storage improvement initiatives. 

  • Perform deep-dive analysis at the application level to identify high-usage areas and recommend optimizations. 

Auditing & Reporting 

  • Conduct monthly audits to identify waste resources (e.g., orphan disks, unused VMs for Virtualization and storage technologies). 

  • Generate actionable reports using VROPS, IDR, and other tools. 

  • Maintain and update weekly tasks in JIRA for visibility and accountability. 

Mainframe Metrology Support 

  • Assist the global mainframe team in preparing monthly metrology reports, focusing on the EU region. 

Taskforce & Decommissioning Activities 

  • Monitor and validate storage associated with VMs during taskforce decommissioning activities. 

 

Core Competencies 

  • Accountability: Takes full responsibility for the health, performance, and cost-efficiency of storage systems. Ensures timely execution of audits, reporting, and corrective actions with minimal supervision. 

  • Analytical Thinking: Strong data analysis skills for identifying trends and inefficiencies. 

  • Communication: Clear and effective communication with cross-functional teams and vendors. 

  • Initiative: Proactive approach to identifying and resolving storage-related issues. 

  • Collaboration: Ability to work across teams including Architecture, Finance, and Vendor Management. 

 

Technical Skills 

  • Tool Proficiency: ActiveIQ, VROPS ARIA Operation, OCUM, BlueXP, VMware vCenter - Vsphere, Excel, Power BI, Rocket TE Mainframe Display. 

  • Storage Platforms: NetApp – IBM – VSAN . 

  • Technologies : Broadcom VMWARE – VSAN – SAN IBM – NAS NETAPP – HPE Simplivity – DELL VXRAIL 

  • Reporting & Documentation: Experience in generating and interpreting technical reports. 

 

Experience & Qualifications 

  • Professional Experience: Minimum 5 years in IT service environments with a focus on managing the storage infrastructure.

  • Methodologies: Information Lifecycle Management (ILM), Storage Resource Management (SRM), Backup & Recovery Best Practices (3-2-1, RPO/RTO Planning), Storage Tiering, High Availability & DR Design, and Cloud/Hybrid Storage Architectures.

  • Education: Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. 

  • Certifications: Possessing any storage-related certification, regardless of vendor or platform, is considered an added advantage.
