About the Role:

Join Michelin as an Environmental Health Safety and Fire Specialist (Experienced) to help protect the safety and health of our Louisville ASRC plant. You will work with a top-tier team and be responsible for applying and upholding excellent safety and fire protection standards. This role supports our important objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular evaluations of safety, fire, PSM, IH, ergonomic, and health hazards, coordinating prevention plans.
  • Establish and maintain Environmental/Safety and PSM procedures within the EP management system.
  • Coordinate Environmental Protection audits and diagnostics, leading resulting action plans.
  • Manage the business planning process for the safety domain.
  • Validate the Environmental/Safety component for all site projects.
  • Provide technical expertise and encourage the use of internal experts when necessary.
  • Deliver Environmental Protection awareness and training sessions.
  • Act as the Safety champion, facilitating safety spokes’ functions within a leading network.
  • Assist in protective and restart operations during major Safety events, determining root causes and implementing solutions.
  • Develop and evaluate guidelines, procedures, and instructions for safety, fire, PSM, and industrial hygiene.
  • Ensure precautions are taken to manage and reduce Safety risks in all engineering work.
  • Assess site projects for Safety requirements and complete Safety awareness and training programs.
  • Alert plant management of serious non-conformances or persistent risks, proposing corrective actions.
  • Analyze Safety events for trends and implement action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Lead root cause analysis for specified accidents, injuries, and other safety events to reduce future risks.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous waste regulations, including accurate storage and disposal.
  • Manage safe transfer and labeling of drums, conducting routine inspections.
  • Respond to emergency situations, bringing up concerns to management.
  • Serve as a first responder to fire emergencies, ensuring effective intervention.
  • Conduct routine inspections of fire detection and suppression equipment.
  • Lead and participate in fire drills and emergency evacuations, training staff on accurate protocols.
  • Collaborate with local fire departments and emergency services to maintain compliance.
  • Provide mentorship on fire prevention strategies, educating employees on fire safety.
  • Document and report fire-related incidents, assist in investigations, and recommend corrective actions.

What You Will Bring:

  • BS/BA in Occupational/Chemical Safety or Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in safety or a related function in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in Process Safety Management (PSM) is essential.
  • Having an ASP or similar certification is an advantage.
  • Experience in Environmental Protection is advantageous.
  • RCRA qualifications.
  • Kentucky State Fire Fighter certification preferred.
