THE OPPORTUNITY 

We have an immediate opening in Spartanburg, South Carolina for a Pipeline Business Unit Leader whose responsibilities include learning the Michelin Manufacturing system and leadership principles through our Pipeline development program and development projects. The candidate is encouraged to progress through the training program until a suitable Business Unit Leader position becomes available that aligns with their abilities. As the Business Unit Leader, the Applicant will lead all aspects of a team of 20-40 operators, guiding outcomes with the Michelin Production approach. 

Located in Spartanburg, our plant has been part of the community for over 40 years. Spartanburg offers a great mix of city and country life, with its walkable downtown area and great places to eat. It is located near Greenville, which also offers great living amenities and an international airport. Our facility is home to the X ONE long haul truck tire. We also build heavy duty truck, military, and other large truck tires for our customers.

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

  • Implement the training program for Pipeline Business Unit Managers, with the guidance of the current Business Unit Leader, to acquire the responsibilities of the Business Unit Leader. 
  • Lead one or more projects that reinforce these learnings. 
  • Take leadership of a Business Unit at the appropriate time in the Applicants development journey. 
  • Use the Michelin Manufacturing system to maintain/improve standards and lead the Business Unit. 
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Shop (group of Business Units) in the environment of an empowered group of Business Unit Leaders. 
  • Align resources for Problem Solving and Progress through the plant-wide, daily Rapid Response meeting rhythm. 
  • Work with other departments to resolve safety, quality and production issues. 
  • Anticipate obstacles considering next steps.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact in a professional manner with operators, suppliers, customers, and colleagues at all levels of the organization. 
  • Strong communication, teamwork, leadership, and organizational skills. 
  • Effective problem-solving skills and process/product relationship knowledge. 
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office® Suite and ability to become proficient in internal software systems.  
  • Experience in leadership and management preferred. 
  • Learning Agility. 
  • Attention to detail, data accuracy.
