Michelin has an immediate opening for a Public Relations Manager at our Headquarters in Greenville, S.C.

Michelin is seeking an experienced communications specialist to advocate for its interests with the media, interact with journalists, and improve the company's reputation. Contribute to shaping public opinion on the Group's strategic issues and engage around Michelin's core values: Company vision, strategic model, human and social model, etc. Advise management on media communication strategies. The primary responsibility of this role is to assist with earned media storytelling efforts for the Michelin North America B2B business. Additionally, this role will support key functions of the overall press office within the Brand Engagement team including responsibility for the tools and systems that enable data-driven earned media within the PESO (paid, earned, shared and owned) model.

Key Responsibilities

Media Relations & Reputation

  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with journalists and key media outlets (trade and corporate).
  • Draft media materials including press releases, briefing books, messaging guides, and press kits.
  • Manage media interviews, spokesperson preparation, and press conferences.
  • Monitor media and social coverage; identify emerging issues and advise on risk mitigation.
  • Lead media response during crises in coordination with the central Press Service and internal partners.
  • Measure and report on media impact, trends, and progress toward objectives.

Strategic Storytelling & Brand Engagement

  • Take charge of crafting stories for earned media related to Michelin North America B2B sector and offer support to affiliated firms such as Fenner, MCF, and MMI.
  • Align with global colleagues on launches and high-visibility events.
  • Support executives in earned media engagements, ensuring alignment with Michelin’s values and strategy.
  • Provide counsel on sensitive topics and reputation management.
  • Ensure consistency with brand guidelines (graphic charter, sound identity, Bibendum, etc.).

Press Office & Performance Management

  • Support press office operations including the Michelin News Summary, quarterly reports, media monitoring, and performance tracking.
  • Manage external agencies (PR, events, translation) to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Apply a data-driven approach to earned media planning and execution.

Crisis Communication

  • Identify potential risks and weak signals that may evolve into crises.
  • Develop messaging templates and strategies for managing communication during crises.
  • Monitor traditional and social media during crises, ensuring alignment with reputation management guidelines.

Collaboration & Events

  • Collaborate with internal communication teams to improve employee engagement and internal amplification of coverage.
  • Participate in the coordination and implementation of major events (trade shows, product launches, announcements) incorporating earned media aspects.
  • Travel up to 25% to support events, trade shows, and media opportunities.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
  • 5+ years of media relations experience preferred.
