THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an immediate opening in Woodburn, Indiana for a Safety Professional whose responsibilities include supporting and assisting the RGEP, Health and Safety Manager and plant management in all areas of safety, fire, industrial health, ergonomics, environment, and security.  Applicant will also have first responder duty in the plant, working directly with the medical staff in the dispensary and will work a rotating schedule.

This opportunity is in Woodburn, IN less than 15 minutes from the vibrant, growing city of Fort Wayne, IN. Nearly equidistant from Chicago, Cincinnati, and Detroit, Fort Wayne has historically served as a transportation and communications center for Northeast Indiana, and an incubator for many products and companies. WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Responds to and coordinates the operations of all emergency responses in the plant.
  • Provides guidance and direction to Contract Security Services and Emergency Response Team
  • Assists departments in investigating incidents to determine causes of incidents and devise preventative measures to minimize recurrence.  Assists in preparation of incident reports when needed.
  • Assists in developing and reviewing safety training programs and provides training when requested
  • Monitors overall safety of plant including the operations of contractors and provide advice and assistance to line management.
  • Monitors weather and provides information to the plant management on any situation that may affect the safety or operations of the plant.
  • Monitors and corrects, when necessary, the activities to outside contractors to ensure the compliance with all safety programs and regulations.
  • Coordinates hot work and confined space programs.
  • Monitors all aspects of fire system including alarm system to ensure system is maintained in working order.
  • Performs audiometric testing and vision screening, and respirator fit testing as requested.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • HS diploma, associate degree in safety or emergency Medical Procedures is preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in Industrial Occupational Health and Safety
  • First Aid/CPR or EMR certification required.  Must complete EMT in first 12 months on job.
  • Ability to rotate 12-hour shifts.
