THE OPPORTUNITY

Join our ambitious team at Michelin as a Shift Chemist and contribute to producing top-quality synthetic rubber. Perform qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to maintain our high production standards.

Mission

In this role, you will:

  • Provide the laboratory with the necessary standards and verification methods to ensure that all measurements and productions are performed flawlessly and according to Michelin Group standards.
  • Assist workshops and laboratories in resolving any quality measurement challenges.
  • Ensure that all measurements and calibrations are performed according to established operating procedures, including those related to durability (VQM).
  • Manage the EICS park, ensuring that all calibrations are up-to-date and equipment is ready for use.
  • Advise workshops and laboratories on equipment selection, and ensure all necessary documents and standards are accurately available and managed.
  • Detect and communicate any measurement or calibration nonconformities, providing the necessary elements for their resolution.
  • Share your expertise by participating in training plans.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Conduct chemical tests on raw materials for acceptance and auditing, control processes, and test finished products using standard techniques and procedures.
  • Routinely acquire process samples from the plant for analysis.
  • Support problem-solving efforts in production, safety, or environmental areas, which may involve special testing of non-routine process samples.
  • Actively communicate with process control and other personnel to provide the information needed to maintain control over the production process.
  • Maintain laboratory instruments, ensuring they are in working order and verifying their accuracy through a metrology program.
  • Manage laboratory supplies, monitor inventory levels, and request restocks to ensure continuous operations.
  • Provide on-the-job training for other employees as needed.
  • Adhere to the policies, documents, procedures, and work instructions of both the Quality and Environmental Management Systems, performing all responsibilities in a safe manner.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards in all areas of the lab.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • A BS degree in Chemistry or equivalent experience, with consideration given to related fields.
  • Preferably, a minimum of one (1) year of chemical lab experience.
  • Key proficiencies include organization and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues at all levels.
  • Strong teamwork and organizational abilities.
  • Experience in chemical analysis of raw materials and rubber formulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office® Suite and the ability to learn internal software systems.
  • A keen attention to detail and data accuracy.
