The Opportunity

At Michelin, we are offering a unique opportunity for an experienced Shift Manager to join our team in Fort Belvoir. As a world-class manufacturing company, we are committed to delivering flawless products and exceptional performance. In this role, you will have the chance to lead a team of 30-50 individuals and play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of our operations.

What will you do

  • Lead and empower a team of wage production operators to achieve their common objectives on a rotating shift basis.
  • Collaborate closely with maintenance, quality, and other teams to ensure smooth daily operations and meet performance goals.
  • Proactively identify and eliminate any obstacles or interferences that may hinder production operations.
  • Drive process and team improvements by facilitating their identification and successfully implementing them.
  • Coordinate with the supplier of forklift drivers to ensure seamless operations and support for your team.

What will you bring

  • A strong willingness to work in an industrial plant environment on a rotating, 12-hour shift schedule.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively leading teams or project groups, setting clear goals, delegating tasks, providing regular feedback and coaching, and promoting a collaborative work environment. Military service experience as a Junior Military Officer or Senior Non-Commission Officer is advantageous.
  • 3-5 years of successful employee performance management, including attendance, productivity, skill development, and team management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with internal partners, suppliers, customers, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Sharepoint Apps is a plus.

  • Drive Crew SMQDC performance levels and ensure strict adherence to standards.
  • Align jobs and competencies with current needs, and develop a sense of responsibility among the Crew in preparation for operational readiness.
  • Continuously improve the performance of the Crew in line with our plans, the MMW approach, and all relevant rules and standards.
  • Maintain the long-term performance of the workshop, ensuring consistent success over time.
