This opportunity is in Woodburn, Indiana in our BF Goodrich tire plant. Woodburn is a small town located about 30 minutes east of Fort Wayne, IN. Fort Wayne is the cultural and economic center of northeastern Indiana and the second largest city in Indiana. Established in 1961, our plant makes passenger and light truck tires.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Michelin has an immediate opening in for a Spare Parts Repair Technician who will be responsible for ensuring availability of critical spare parts, manage inventory efficiently, and coordinate repair processes to support operational uptime and efficiency. WHAT WILL YOU DO
- Maintain an accurate inventory of spare parts, ensuring optimal stock levels to support operational needs while minimizing excess inventory.
- Source, order, and track spare parts from suppliers, negotiating cost-effective agreements while ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Responsible for the repair process for defective or worn parts, including identifying repairable components, coordinating with internal teams or external vendors, and ensuring repairs meet quality standards.
- Maintain detailed records of spare parts usage, repair history, and inventory transactions using inventory management software.
- Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to forecast spare parts needs and prioritize repairs to minimize downtime.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and repair service providers to ensure reliable supply chains and cost-effective solutions.
- Find opportunities to optimize spare parts management and repair processes, implementing procedures to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensure all spare parts and repair activities align with safety, regulatory, and company standards.
- Ensure all warranty information is recorded, and any warranty repairs are managed
WHAT WILL YOU BRING
- Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in spare parts management, inventory control, or maintenance/repair operations, preferably in manufacturing, industrial, and automotive industry.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Familiarity with mechanical or electrical components and repair processes relevant to industry.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management platforms (e.g., ERP, Oracle, CMMS (IBM Maximo), or similar systems).
- Ability to analyze data and forecast spare parts needs.
- Problem-solving skills to address repair and inventory challenges.
- Demonstrated attention to detail with a proactive approach to managing inventory and repairs.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Skilled in vendor negotiations and cross-functional teamwork, with excellent communication and a forward-thinking demeanor.
