Michelin FSAE Shootout

Formula SAE

is a university program that challenges teams of student engineers to conceive, design, fabricate, develop, and compete with small, formula-style race cars every year. The Michelin Formula SAE Shootout is a free annual small-scale competition hosted at Laurens Proving Grounds in South Carolina. This event will take place on Track 8 at Michelin Laurens Proving Grounds.

This is a free event, and breakfast and lunch are on us!

  • Drive & Test

    Bring up to two cars and 20 people per university. Track setups will include acceleration, skid pad, autocross, and endurance.
  • Connect & Compete

    Meet students from other university teams and compete against both IC and EV teams.
  • Network & Ask Questions

    Network with FSAE alumni and current Michelin engineers. Make connections, visualize a career path, and share a pdf of your resume.

Steps to sign up

  • 1. Complete the enrollment form.

    Sign up to confirm your team’s attendance by October 24, 2024. Click below to SIGN UP.
  • 2. Collect and submit the necessary paperwork.

    You will need to submit two documents (LPG Track Agreement and the Team Member List ) on behalf of your team to FormulaSAE@Michelin.com by November 1, 2024. Both documents will be sent to you via email.
  • 3. Fill out individual waivers.

    Release waiver information will be emailed to each team member.

Safety

Safety is non-negotiable at Michelin. All attendees must abide by the following safety rules:

• Absolutely no firearms, alcohol, or drugs onsite. We will close the track and shut down the event if these items are found.
• No hot work is permitted onsite, which includes welding. Let us know prior to performing any work involving grinding or sparks/flames.
• Anyone on-track retrieving/placing cones must have a high-visibility vest. Some will be available on site, but we request that teams bring their own if possible.
• A fire extinguisher must be present on-track for each event.
• Place wood blocks under all jack stands and trailer stands.
• Avoid spilling fluids. If a spill does occur, please inform one of the available staff members.
• No pets.
• Please clean up all trash to protect wildlife that lives on the site.
• Only 3 cars are allowed on track at once and they must never be aimed towards each other.
• Drivers must wear a full legal fire suit, gloves, shoes, and helmet.
• When refueling, have the driver out of the car and hold a fire extinguisher in position.
