The opportunity

Michelin is currently looking for a highly motivated Material Industrialization Engineer to join our team at our Spartanburg facility. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a world-class manufacturing environment for one of the top-rated employers in the Upstate. As a Material Industrialization Engineer, you will play a vital role in introducing new semi-finished materials to the market for our innovative line of tires. This position offers the chance to work closely with our Central Research & Development teams in Greenville and collaborate with different individuals to successfully implement new materials and processes. What you will do:

  • Work closely with our Central Research & Development teams in Greenville to bring new semi-finished materials, such as rubber mixes and calendered tissues, to market for our passenger cars, mining tires, and truck tires.
  • Participate in material property and tire performance risk analysis to determine the best strategies for successful industrialization.
  • Conduct local risk analysis and develop action plans to address any identified issues.
  • Plan and coordinate trials, defining the new semi-finished material models for the plant.
  • Define and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with Michelin Quality Standards, sustainability goals, and manufacturing efficiency needs.
  • Lead and coordinate trials with production operators, maintenance technicians, and laboratory personnel.
  • Run test materials on industrial production equipment and address any issues that arise during trials.
  • Collect and analyze results, providing feedback to improve parameter set ups for future trials.
  • Collaborate with R&D and manufacturing partners to solve problems and overcome challenges during the industrialization process.
  • Spend time in the manufacturing area to optimize processes and resolve production issues.
  • Work with experts in the domain to perform quality tests and demonstrate the industrial robustness of new equipment.

What you will bring

  • Proven track record of efficient work in an industrial production environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to comprehend process and product relationships.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Process, or Chemical preferred), Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including co-ops and internships, is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Excel, Word) and the ability to quickly adapt to and effectively use internal software systems.
