Retail Marketing Team Leader (Experienced Level Professional)

Mission:

The future of shopping is frictionless, experiential, and omnipresent. You will lead the Retail Marketing & Ecommerce team in planning, developing, and implementing retailer-specific marketing initiatives to create compelling, seamless and rich shopping experiences through digital/physical touchpoints. You will create joint value for shoppers, retailers, and our brands, while delivering strategies that close the sale for Michelin’s brands across the retailers points of purchase. You will establish the function as an integral growth engine for the B2C branded business. You will collaborate with external partners and internal stakeholders in Sales, Category Management, Brand Marketing, Global Marketing, and Finance. This role is a team leader and reports to the Senior Director, Michelin Brand and E-Commerce/Web.

Core Responsibilities:

Business Partnering & Strategic Selling

Collaborates and builds alliances across the business to deliver marketing strategies that maximize impact

  • Partners with sales leadership and category management to identify business growth opportunities that increase Michelin’s share
  • Establishes shared annual account goals with sales leadership and category management
  • Influences & partners with customers to improve the overall tire buying experience for consumers and drive e-commerce
  • Presents Retail Marketing topics in key customer forums including Top to Tops, customer marketing meetings, sales customer meetings, etc
  • Integrates and collaborates with cross-functional partners to deliver against customer retail marketing strategies
  • Leverages internal eRetail capabilities & platforms to advance in region execution; influences global capabilities to meet NA region needs
  • Drives integrated marketing planning with key customer accounts, calendarizing initiatives and collaborating on deployment

Retail Marketing Function Building

Develops and advances Retail Marketing as a core marketing capability, expanding our influence beyond the region

  • Creates the 3-year vision for advancing the Retail Marketing function in North America
  • Annually assesses innovations and technologies in digital commerce to inform Michelin North America’s Retail Marketing capabilities
  • Identifies and deploys capabilities, tools, and processes that can evolve and enhance Retail Marketing performance
  • Partners with cross-functional leaders to elevate cross-team connectedness, simplify workflows, and expedite speed to market with initiatives
  • Establishes the mechanisms (forums, reporting, deliverables etc) to drive Retail Marketing accountability & visibility with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Empowers team to contribute to Retail Marketing function development by appointing captains over key topics (e.g. Customer Reviews, Retailer Media, Performance Measurement etc)
  • Socializes and seeks opportunities to expand North America Retail Marketing capabilities globally to benefit the overall business
  • Builds scalable Retail Marketing solutions that can be leverage across our dealer base

Marketing Strategy & Planning

Sets strategic vision and drives implementation of marketing plans to deliver against annual brand and sales goals

  • Translates the annual brand strategies and goals to marketing activation at Retail, drawing connections between brand initiatives and the retail channel holistically (key customers/independents, online/offline etc)
  • Leads the annual planning process for Retail Marketing establishing key objectives, goals, and Retail Marketing budget
  • Manages the team development of annual account strategies that establish customer level marketing initiatives and programs that deliver joint value – identifying key accounts goals and deliverables for the year
  • Supports and helps create the retail go-to-market strategy for new product launches across brands
  • Manages Retail Marketing budget throughout the year ensuring delivery against plan and adapting in-year investments as needed
  • Oversees national retail program and promotional strategy development and deployment

Channel Marketing Deployment

Delivers results through marketing strategy deployment in the channel and across retail customers

  • Drives CX enhancements with retail customers to improve the tire buying experience to deliver joint value (consumer, customer, Michelin)
  • Achieves new product launch goals through go-to-market launch plans and strategies
  • Leads the team to establish digital fundamentals across our retailers’ websites to drive both traffic and conversion for Michelin products (e.g. retailer media, product content, search optimization and ratings and reviews etc)
  • Works with creative agencies to design best in class content for PDPs, Brand Stores, and in-store communication points
  • Oversees team delivery on driving traffic to retailers points of purchase and conversion tactics supporting Michelin’s brands
  • Provides input on new product sell-in deck for customers and selling/training materials for customers
  • Advances overall promotional strategy and integrated marketing support at retail customers

Measurement & Insights

  • Identifies and understands shopper needs and purchase barriers; ultimately, designing Retail Marketing strategies to address them
  • Develops systematic performance measurement for the channel, retail accounts, and marketing tactics (retailer media, content etc)
  • Establishes and advances the promotional performance evaluation process and ensures post event performance recaps are authored
  • Collaborates with agencies/internal business partners to develop dashboards and other reporting capabilities
  • Leverages reporting and performance metrics to optimize in-year strategies and to inform annual planning
  • Socializes team performance results in a regular cadence ensuring visibility of work among cross-functional partners and leaders

What you Bring:

  • Digital marketing and e-Commerce experience, coupled with knowledge of retail and technology landscape.
  • Ability to create a vision and motivate teams and the broader organization to action, delivering business results.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to prioritize, delegate, and execute in a high-performing environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to work with and influence people at all management levels, whether customer or internal.
  • You are a true business owner; comfortable with decision making and calculated risk taking for the benefit of your business.
  • Experience communicating complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals and audiences in both written and verbal methods.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with experience building strategic and tactical plans.
  • Experience managing an e-Commerce team is a plus.

What you Need:

  • BA/BS Degree in Marketing, Digital, Business or related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years of Marketing experience in Digital and/or eCommerce Marketing
  • Experience in delivering business results and driving transformation.
  • Experience in global corporation is preferred.
  • MBA is a plus.
