THE OPPORTUNITY

Michelin has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Area Manager who leads their business unit (12-20 people) to achieve their performance goals in safety, machine availability, quality, delivery, and cost. This position works normal business hours Monday-Friday but supports a team that rotates shifts 24 hours-7 days a week. This opportunity is in Anderson, SC a vibrant growing city less than an hour from Greenville and about 10 miles from Clemson University. As the largest rubber manufacturing plant in the world with 800+ employees, our plant produces rubber, metallic and textile tissues, as well as other technologies for all types and sizes of tires, including passenger car, light and heavy truck, mining and aircraft tires. Every single Michelin tire manufactured in North America contains a product manufactured at our Anderson plant! WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • You will be part of a support team ensuring progress for day-to-day production, quality, and delivery targets at the Michelin Sandy Spring facility – the largest rubber compounding site in the world.
  • Some key responsibilities and achievements include:
    • Safety requirements are prioritized and ensured at all times (personnel and equipment)
    • The maintenance strategy is applied to equipment criticality
    • Maintenance plans are implemented, to include effective reaction to breakdowns and proactive work on machinery to improve control of the process (reliability).
    • Effectiveness of machine interventions is continuously optimized (The analysis of maintenance results is ensured and implementation of necessary actions to ensure continuous progress over short and long term horizons)
    • Maintenance cost is optimized: operational efficiency, energy and spare parts consumption
    • The steps and tools of MMW (Michelin Manufacturing Way) are mastered to drive reliability progress
    • The reliability of equipment is ensured, in particular by dealing with obsolescence cases
    • Resources are adapted (competency and quantity)
    • Training and succession plans are built and carried out

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • 3-5 years prior maintenance management experience is required
  • Proven leadership of teams, have examples of the ability to facilitate progress
  • Technical degree with experience is preferred but equivalent experience is considered
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven record of development of people through coaching and mentoring and establishment of development plans
  • Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact in a professional manner with at all levels of the organization
